One fine hot bay Mr. Hare met with Mts. Tortoise. Mr. Hare said to Mrs. Tortoise: “What a slow walker you are! You cannot run so fast as I, to be sure!” “Well, my friend, let us run a race and see which of us will win. Let us run up to the top of that hill,” said Mrs. Tortoise. “All right!” said Mr. Hare. So they started a race. Mrs. Tortoise walked with a slow, steady pace, up to the top of the hill. She never stopped a moment. But Mr. Hare ran, almost flying like an arrow. On the way he often stopped to eat grass. When he went halfway up the hill, he lay down for a nap, saying, “If Mrs. Tortoise passes by me, I can easily catch up with her.” When he awoke and looked around, he could not see her. Then he ran up the hill as fast al he could, and at the very top, he found Mrs. Tortoise at rest. She had won her success. “Slow and steady wins the race.” ”Slow and steady wins the race.”3.
A Woodman came into a forest to ask the Trees to give him a handle for Ax. It seemed so modest a request that the principal tree at once agreed to it, and it was settled among them that the plain, homely Ash should furnish what was wanted.No sooner had the Woodman fitted the staff to his purpose ,then he began laying about him on all side.Felling the whole matter too late, whispered to the Cedar: "the first concession has lost all ;if we has not a sacrificed our humble neighbor, we might have yet stood for ages ourselves."

"i could dance around you the whole way."the race started. the hare darted almost out of sight at once. he soon stopped and lay down to have a nap.the tortoise plodded on and on. when the hare awoke from his nap, he saw the tortoise was near the finish line, and that he had lost the race.moral: pride goes before a fall. only by persevering can we achieve our goals.

I have your letter, my adorable love. It has filled my heart with joy ...Since I left you I have been sad all the time. My only happiness is near you.I go over endlessly in my thought of your kisses, your tears, your delicious jealousy.The charm of my wonderful Josephine kindles a living, blazing fire in my heart andsenses.When shall I be able to pass every minute near you,with nothing to do but to love you and nothing to think of but the pleasure of telling you of it and giving you proof of it?
I loved you some time ago; since then I feel that I love you a thousand times better.Ever since I have known you I adore you more every day.That proves how wrong is that saying of La Bruyere “love es all of asudden.”Ah, let me see some of your faults; be less beautiful, less graceful, less tender, less good.But never be jealous and never shed tears. Your tears send me out of my mind ...they set my very blood on fire.Believe me that it is utterly impossible for me to have a single thought that is not yours,a single fancythat is not submissive to your will. Rest well. Restore your health.e back to me and then at any rate before we die we ought to be able to say:“We were happy for so very many days!” Millions of kisses even to your dog.

Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my longing forlove, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.Thesepassions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither,in a wayward course, over a deepocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.
I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy -ecstasy so great that I would often havesacrificed all the rest of my life for a few hours of this joy.I have sought it, next, because itrelieves loneliness-that terrible loneliness in which one shivering consciousness looks over therim of the world into the cold unfathomable lifeless abyss. I have sought it, finally, because inthe union of love I have seen,in a mystic miniature, the prefiguring vision of the heaven thatsaints and poets have imagined.This is what I sought, and though it might seem too good forhuman life, this is what - at last - I have found.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge.I have wished to understand the hearts of men.Ihave wished to know why the stars shine.And I have tried to apprehend the Pythagorean powerby which number holds away above the flux.A little of this, but not much, I have achieved.
Love and knowledge, so far as they were possible, led upward toward the heavens.But alwayspity brought meback to earth. Echoes of cries of pain reverberate in my heart.Children infamine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people a hated burden to their sons,andthe whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life shouldbe.I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer.
This has been my life. I have found it worth living, and would gladly live it again if the chancewere offered me.

I think that i shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Againsr the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at god all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pry;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only god can make a tree.
The significant inion found on an old key "If I rest, I rust" would be an excellent motto for those who are afflicted with the slightest taint of idleness. Even the most industrious might adopt it with advantage to serve as a reminder that, if one allows his faculties to rest, like the iron in the unused key, they will soon show signs of rust and, ultimately, cannot do the work required of them.
